usage of CSI is very close to how traditional artists break down initial shapes when drawing statues
traditional art uses mostly C and I, not so much S curves
goal of using CSI to break down photos
learn basic shapes of objects (goldfish)
being able to breakdown objects into its segments and put it together again
pasting leg into another figure + rotating limbs
using understanding of perspective to add wrapping lines that increases the believability of the pose
you need to have the basic ability to do this
adding boxes to your pose should come second, not first
first get the general shape/silhouette of the figure down then add your torso/hip boxes
the torso/hip boxes will help convince your viewers that you planned this pose from the start and resolve general issues
this idea of breaking into shapes + transforming segments of the body doesn't come into play when you're drawing traditionally on paper
